Smoothies are a delicious and nutritious way to replenish your energy after a run. They can even be used as a way to motivate and reward yourself for getting off the couch to jog. There’s nothing better to think about during your last home stretch than the frosty and fruity drink waiting for you at home.

Buying smoothies outside can get pricey, so here are 3 simple recipes that you can make at home, with your blender, for a fraction of the cost of buying a smoothie at a juice bar or restaurant. Just combine the ingredients and blend away!

Strawberry-Banana Smoothie

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 cup almond milk

1 banana

1/4 cup plain yogurt

Kale-Apple Smoothie

3/4 cup chopped kale, ribs and thick stems removed

1 small stalk celery, chopped

1/2 banana

1/2 cup apple juice

1/2 cup ice

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Berry-Banana Blast (vegan)

1 cup frozen mixed berries

1/2 banana

1/2 cup apple juice

1/4 cup silken tofu

Pro tips:

  • Always clean your blender right after you make your smoothie (blending warm water with a drop of dish soap works well).

  • Try adding chia, goji berries or coconut oil.
